Abstract

Nanotechnology is a new and rapidly expanding field encompassing a broad range of technologies. Some developments in nanotechnology will undoubtedly create new industries and possibly new markets for the ultrapure water industry. Some of these new markets will have more stringent purity requirements than existing technology can provide. Various research projects underway at Purdueﾒs Birck Nanotechnology Center provide only a small sample of the range of technologies in nano, but may provide some insight into the challenges and opportunities for the world of high-purity water.
